Angioma


Angiomas are benign tumors which are made up of small blood vessels. There are many various types of angiomas. Angiomas may appear any place on the body, and aren't considered dangerous. Some of the variant types include: spider angiomas, cherry angiomas, and senile angiomas. The cause for most types of angiomas is not known.

Some of the feasible causes of angioma include pregnancy, alcoholic liver disease which causes spider angiomas and cirrhosis of the liver which results in spider angiomas.

Cherry angiomas and are because of aging and do not have any known connotation. You can transpire cherry angiomas anytime in your life, but they are most frequent after the age of 40. Spider angiomas are more often in childhood and during pregnancy, and a few can appear on anyone. It is found in ninety percent of the females and around eighty percent of them are affected by it before they attain the age of twenty.

A spider angioma can be seen in a healthy person without any distinct cause, but is more common in individuals with liver disease or altered hormone levels. Large angiomas can bleed prodigaly when they are injured. Due to this, don't puncture them or try to remove them yourself. Cavernous angiomas are arrays of abnormal blood vessels found in the brain, spinal cord, and, rarely, in other areas of the body. Spider angiomas, also called as "nevus araneus," are a kind of angioma found slightly below the skin's surface. Angiomas do not require to be treated unless they bleed or are bothering you.

Causes of Angioma

The common causes and risk factor's of Angioma involve the following:

  • The exact cause of Angioma are unknown.
  • Alcoholic liver disease - causes spider angiomas.
  • Pregnancy.
  • Cirrhosis of the liver - causes spider angiomas.

Symptoms of Angioma

Some sign and symptoms related to Angioma are as follows:

  • Strawberry marks - caused by capillary hemangiomas.
  • Haemorrhages or headaches.
  • A venous angioma patient experiences lazy ness in doing work.
  • Nausea and vomiting.
  • You may have the feeling of weakness in both limbs.

Treatment of Angioma

Here is list of the methods for treating Angioma:

  • Laser surgery - specially for portwine stains.
  • Angiomas can be treated with electrodesiccation. This is performed in the doctors office. It composed of touching the skin with an electric needle and destroying the blood vessels which make up the tumor.
  • Angiomas can also be cured with liquid nitrogen therapy. Liquid nitrogen is a cold, liquefied gas which is sprayed on the skin with a spray gun. This works by freezing and destroying the tumor of blood vessels.
  • Certain medicines such as Phenytoin (Dilantin) or another equivalent agent can also be used for the treatment of venous angioma.
