Indian Bridal Makeup


Every bride desires to look great and special on her wedding day. Bridal makeup performs an integral part in making the bride feel on top of the world on the occasion of her marriage. The Indian bride is the abridgment of color and glitter what with red, fuschia and yellow silks saris draped all over along with fabulous jewelry made of gold. And the bridal makeup further enhances the baronial effect. Every woman whether in india or elsewhere, thus, must have knowledge of bridal makeup and of things required for indian bridal makeup, as beauty clinics are not available in small towns or villages.

Home-made concoction known as ubtan, and a good facial give the required softness to the skin. Blackheads can be easily removed by steaming. For a fresh complexion, use some skin tonic or astringent lotion. To give that shining effect on the wedding day it is necessary to take proper care of your skin & hair.

Keep in mind bridal make up should be such that it looks beautiful and realistic and not overdone. It is important to decorate hands in the morning on the wedding day.

A good hairstyle can be done only if the hair are not oily. So, shampoo them before makeup. Put them in rollers when wet and then dry them. Long hair as well as short hair both can be put in rollers. A bride should have departing in the middle which matches well when decorated with beni or matha-patti . After setting the front hair, tie a beautiful bun. For short hair, you can use ready­made 'switch'. Hair spray will set the hair well and accommodate them lustre.

Remove all makeup the night before your wedding. Avoid food or any substances which could give you oily skin, swelling and irritation. Try to avoid spicy, deep fried and junk food. It is best to avoid red meat, alcohol, and caffeine. Put lip moisturizer on your lips to avoid dry lips. Your face should be rightly washed and clean before you start your make up on the wedding day. Use a brown tone eye shadow for softness and white makeup to lift. Use a thin line of white eyeliner on the eyelid, to feature the eyes. Finish the line with black eyeliner and add a little black eye shadow under the eye.

Bridal makeup tips:

  • Apply a concealer shade similar to the foundation and blend both well.
  • Select lip liner which blends easily with lipstick for that soft glossy look which looks good in photographs too.
  • Use a brown tone eye shadow for softness and white makeup to lift.
  • Avoid food or any substances which could provide you oily skin, swelling and irritation. Try to avoid spicy, deep fried and junk food.
  • For a perfect eye shape, use a small brush to mix a medium tone color from just below the brow arch downwards in a semi-circle motion.
  • If you have combination skin, use water based foundation and a dry sponge.
  • Use heavy-pigmented cream foundation and layer it with powder foundation to make the skin look smoother.
  • To highlight your lashes use black mascara.
  • Go in for false lashes to add the dramatic look to the eyes.
  • Balance the makeup on the lips and eyes. Play up your eyes if they are your best feature.
