How to apply eyeshadow

Eye shadow is the most minioned cosmetic of creative makeup artists. Opt good quality eye shadow brushes, flat and angled. Always work your way up from lighter shades. Go in for colors which mix easily. The colour of your eyes should always be more preeminent that the colour of the shadow.

The first step in applying the eyeshadow is to apply a neutral concealer which matches your skin tone on the eyelid and then sweep the lightest shade over the complete area from the lash line to the brow line to create the begrime resistant base.

How to Apply Eyeshadow Correctly

Use a medium-toned shade to cover your lower lids.
Then blend eye shadow by stroking the lid gently with an eye shadow brush. Don't use your finger'you could wipe off the shadow entirely.
Blend the shadows well, using your fingertips or a cotton swab.
End with a careful application of eyeliner to the top lid in a complimentary color. There are so many chimeric eyeliner colors available today, so experiment with what is out there. Plums, greens, and browns are flattering to many eye colors.

Eye Shadow Applying Tips

Before using eye shadows on the lids, always test the colours on the back of the hand to see the intensity. Dno't forget, pale tones emphasize, while deep sooty shades define.

Choose a primary colour (the colour you desire to stand out the most) and use short strokes to cover your whole eyelid.

The color gets lighter as it stacks above the eyes.

Use a medium tone from your lashes to the crease of your eye lid.

When you want to apply light shades such as blue, beige, light green and light gray then you should first draw a thin line with the help of liquid eyeliner.

Pearly shades are great for accenting the brow bone and opening up the eye area.

You should use brushes to apply eye shadow. And try to avoid those nasty foam applicators that come with it.

Blend the colors together with a brush. Never use your fingers or you can wipe the color right off your lid.

Apply a lighter eye shadow color above your primary color and below your eyebrow.

If you get shadow in your eyes, flush them gently with tepid water.

Out of these, pressed powders are easiest to apply and creams are most difficult to apply.

To give your eyes a 'smoky' appeareance, choose a dark blue, grey or black eye shadow and brush it around the outer corners of your eyes and blend it into your primary eyeliner. Don't stray further than a quarter inch away from your eyes.
