Homemade Skin Toner

In cosmetics, toner ascribes to a lotion designed to cleanse the skin and shrink pores, usually used on the face. Toners can be applied to the skin in disparate ways. First is spraying onto the face using a vaporiser. Second is moist cotton wool and by applying a tonic gauze facial mask - a piece of gauze is covered with toner and left on the face for a few minutes. Different types of toners.

Skin bracers or fresheners are the mildest form of toners; they contain literally no alcohol (0-10%), water, and a humectant such as glycerine. Humectants help to keep the dampness in the upper layers of the epidermis by preventing it from evaporating. Skin tonics are somewhat stronger and contain a small quantity of alcohol (up to 20%), water and a humectant ingredient. Skin tonics are convenient for use on normal, combination, and oily skin.

Astringents are the potent form of toner and contain a high proportion of alcohol (20-60%), antiseptic ingredients, water, and a humectant ingredient. These are commonly endorsed for oily skins as they are drying, but note that the removal of oil from the skin can lead to superfluous oil production as the skin tries to compensate for this and prevent moisture loss.

Marks and Blemishes on the face

Often pimples, acne, rashes or inflammation of the skin may produce dark marks or blemishes, which are called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. These marks or blemishes may take a long while to fade or blend in with the lighter surrounding skin.

These marks do take a very long time to clear. If you don’t see my sign of improvement after a month, it is best to consult a dermatologist.
