Aromatherapy Skin Care

Homemade Skin Toner

In cosmetics, toner ascribes to a lotion designed to cleanse the skin and shrink pores, usually used on the face. Toners can be applied to the skin in disparate ways. First is spraying onto the face using a vaporiser. Second is moist cotton wool and by applying a tonic gauze facial mask - a piece of gauze is covered with toner and left on the face for a few minutes. Different types of toners.

Skin bracers or fresheners are the mildest form of toners; they contain literally no alcohol (0-10%), water, and a humectant such as glycerine. Humectants help to keep the dampness in the upper layers of the epidermis by preventing it from evaporating. Skin tonics are somewhat stronger and contain a small quantity of alcohol (up to 20%), water and a humectant ingredient. Skin tonics are convenient for use on normal, combination, and oily skin.

Astringents are the potent form of toner and contain a high proportion of alcohol (20-60%), antiseptic ingredients, water, and a humectant ingredient. These are commonly endorsed for oily skins as they are drying, but note that the removal of oil from the skin can lead to superfluous oil production as the skin tries to compensate for this and prevent moisture loss.

Rose skin toner ingredients with 3 1/2 cups witch hazel ,1/2 cup dried rose petals and 5 sprigs of fresh rosemary. Mix ingredients together assuring it is all blended well. Strain. Splash on your face after cleaning skin. Mint toner: For dry skin, boil 2 handfuls of mint leaves in 100gm of water. This mint extract can be used as an anti-perspirant when you dilute it in water.

Take 2 drops of it in a cup of distilled water to which half a tsp of alum has been added. A toner is applied to the face with cotton wool and it is utterly refreshing. Fruity toner is a treat to use in the morning, as the redolences is uplifting and invigorating. This astringent toner is exemplary for youthful and oily skins, though it is gentle enough for all skin types.

Ingredients with 1 tbsp (10ml) high proof vodka, 2 drops grapefruit, 2 drops neroli, 2 drops orange, 2 drops lemon, 2 tbsp (25ml) witch hazel, 1 cup (250ml) orange flower water. Dry glass bottle large sufficient to hold at least 11 oz (300ml) of liquid. You can use a spray bottle to easily apply the toner. Add the essential oils to the vodka and shake strenuously to dissolve the oils. Add the witch hazel and shake well, followed by the orange flower water.
