Supplementing color to your hair is one of the quickest and most dramatic ways of changing the way you look. Hair color is quite a fashion these days and is a perfect disguise for gray hairs too. There are many types of hair color available in the market.

Permanent hair color largely has peroxide and ammonia to cover the gray hair. Permanent hair color opens up the outer layer of the hair so that its insoluble formula then responds with the hair’s middle layer and deposit the color permanently. It is procurable as creams, gels or shampoos in the color. Demi-permanent hair color uses low volumes of peroxide and no ammonia, causing lesser rupture to hair. It covers 80% of gray hairs and lasts for more than two months. It also fades away gradually.

Semi-permanent color is designed to locate color onto the hair only and has no lightening effect. Semi-permanent hair colors are meant to last from one week to one month and are mostly safe for hair. They can be used for fun and fad and provides only 10 to 50% cover for gray hairs. Semi-temporary hair colors stand up to 4-6 times of shampooing your hair. Semi- permanent color doesn’t perforate into the cortex of the hair, but it will usually last from six to eight weeks, gradually washing out with each shampoo.

Temporary hair colors are normally used for party purposes and can be easily washed off by shampooing your hair. Color washes are good for toning hairs but do not last long. The oxidizing agent or developer that comes with it is usually hydrogen peroxide. The developer comes in different strengths, according to the brands you are using.
